Resource Role Management

Evan Linwood March 4, 2021

Resource Roles are used to describe compatibility between items – whether they be Physical, Logical, parent item, child item, or link to port related.

Resource Roles are effectively simple key values that must match for items to be considered compatible and therefore allowing a drag and drop item of one item into another (etc) to complete>

Resource Roles may also describe backward compatibility, meaning that a set of additional Resource Roles that describe previous generations of an interface, slot or port type etc may be added to any given Resource Role.

When considering compatibility for any two items, any one of the ‘backward compatible’ roles assigned to the primary role for that item may trigger a successful compatibility check.
